Pros and Cons of a Smartwatch

Time-keeping is an essential aspect of human life, it helps in keeping activities organized; over the years, the method to tell time has evolved from age-old sundials to clocks to wristwatches and eventually to smartwatches. Smartwatch is now the fad in time-telling. This innovation has its own sets of positive and negative points, which will be discussed further in this article.

First of, let us go to the cons, since it is better to have the best points laid out latter. The most common downside of a modern gadget is its dependence to electricity, thus the top among the list of cons for this tech stuff is it needs to be charged at least once a day for 2-3 hours. With this handicap, it means an additional item to worry about in cases of traveling around. Powerbanks can be a solution to this though. Another disadvantage of this technology is most obvious during rainy season, unless of course if it is waterproof which is quite expensive compared to the rest of the smartwatches out there. Just anyone can testify what will happen to electronic gadgets once they come in contact with water or even with moisture. Last on this list is that once the smartwatch's battery will be emptied or removed, the settings will automatically return to its factory mode which can be quite burdensome since one has to readjust the setting using the 2 or 3 inch touch screen that can also pose a problem to people with large, chubby fingers.

Now let us proceed to the pros of a smartwatch. First on the list is one can personalize the smartwatch like choosing the way of displaying time. Designs can vary according to the owner's preference. Second, smartwatches have additional features like sim-card and memory card slots which makes the smartwatch a mobile phone extension. Some smartwatches even have built-in cameras, thus when a memory card is inserted, pictures can be taken and saved using the smartwatch camera. In addition to that, some models even included Facebook and Twitter in their menus plus a dozen other features such as pedometers and web browsing, sleep monitoring app, and many others. Third, since some smartwatches have sim card compatibility, people can use these gadgets as another means to send text messages or to call someone. It can even remotely access paired mobile phones. Finally, these new types of watches are user-friendly and is available at a low cost, especially if purchased from an online store.

To sum it all, a smartwatch has its own sets of advantages and disadvantages. It is up to the user to weigh things, to think which is which in a personal level, since each person has his own set of preferences, so it is up to the individual to decide which features can attract him to purchase this new trend among the timepieces.

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?
10 I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.

11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.
-Ecclesiastes 3:1-11 KJV
