Rodrigo “Mayor Rody” Roa Duterte, also known as Digong is elected by more than 16 million Filipinos around the world without any machineries during the 2016 National Election.He was a former mayor of Davao City since 2013 until 2016. A well-known disciplinarian and law-abiding government official become the first elected President from Davao City, an urban area in Mindanao. At age of 71 he is the oldest government official who holds an executive office.
Mayor Digong studied political science at the Lyceum of the Philippines University and graduated in 1968 and took bachelor of law at San Beda College of Law in 1972. He became a prosecutor for Davao City and later become a mayor during the Philippine Revolution of 1986 during President Corazon C. Aquino. He was the longest serving government officials as Mayor of Davao City for more than 22 years.
During his term, Philippines became the Chairman of Association of South East Asian Nations or ASEAN. He leads the association with dignity and transparency. Different leaders around the world come to witness the 50th founding anniversary of ASEAN with the theme “Partnering for Change Engaging the World” to established the ideals of peace, prosperity and harmony among ASEAN states.
He stands and defend the people from criminality, drugs and graft and corruption. He remains devoted to the Philippine Constitution and the people of the Philippines.
